You will come to Mexico City and you want to know how to use the Sub?

Well, I'm going to tell you how and some important tips that will serve you.

Let’s start with the price

The cost is $ 5 Mexican pesos, the equivalent of .25 cent of dollar. It is the price per trip and it doesn’t have a time limit.

You can buy the ticket in the windows in front of the entrance

turnstiles; you can also buy a recharge card, so you don’t need to

buy tickets every time you get into the Metro.

The card cost of $ 15 Mexican pesos (.70 cents) with the

card you can also use the

Metro Bus (another transportation system).

Something important to say is that the metro it’s organized by lines and each line has a color, so each line has only two directions and it isn’t like the New York subway where there are several destinations on the same platform.

Once you have purchased the ticket or recharged the card, you pass it through the turnstiles and then look the direction where you are going, it is relatively simple besides there are maps all over the station, and these look like this.

If you need to trans embroider, you will realize that the station is well signposted, so the change of wagon is easy and straightforward… Of course, some stations are big so get ready to walk!

When you are in the wagon I recommend you to you use your backpack from the front, because unfortunately there are many PICKPOCKETS that can take your wallet or open your back and stole your things, you will not want to have a hard time, the best way is to use it in this way. You should always be cautious!

For example:

You are in METRO HIDALGO (Alameda Central) and you want to get to POLANCO, you’ll have to take Line 2 (Blue) heading CUATRO CAMINOS and get off at TACUBA and will take the Line 7 (Brown) heading BARRANCAS DEL MUERTO and get off at POLANCO. DONE!

As I was saying, you only have to see the final direction of the line on the map, so you can count the stations that will be left to your destination. Support on the map that is in the wagon is very useful when you are traveling.

A curious fact is that at the time when the subway was created on 60’s there were many people who didn’t know read, therefore it was implemented to add a symbolic picture in each station so they had to see the images to know where they were.

Another important tip is the rush hour; it can be chaotic so try to not take the subway between:

7:00am – 10:00am

6:00pm -8:00pm

The schedules of the metro are:

5:00 am – 11:55 pm
